AAGO Invites Members to Celebrate National Apartment Housing Month with Community Service
As an industry, we have the honor of welcoming people home each and every day. This task is an extremely personal one and a responsibility we don’t take lightly. An important part of this responsibility is making a positive impact in the communities we serve. Our industry’s commitment to public service and supporting the local community is just one of many reasons the Apartment Association of Greater Orlando (AAGO) formed the AAGO Foundation, Inc.
During the month of April, the National Apartment Association (NAA) and the AAGO Foundation will celebrate the positive impact multifamily housing has on the local community. In recognition of National Apartment Housing Month, AAGO encourages members to participate in the events listed below that are being hosted in conjunction with the AAGO Foundation. We hope you will join us at one of the wonderful events listed below and help make AAGO shine in the communities we love and serve!
The AAGO Foundation’s mission is, “To educate and empower the homeless, veterans reintegrating into the workforce/society, and teens aging out of foster care." This mission is accomplished through charitable giving, volunteer opportunities, and partnerships with service organizations in the central Florida. Last year, the AAGO Foundation exceeded its goal and raised $35,000, which is already making an impact in our local community thanks to the services provided by our charity partners.
The AAGO Foundation’s 2018 charity partners include:
- Bags of Hope, which provides children suffering from hunger food care packages and support programs.
- Rethink Homelessness, which seeks to address homelessness in central Florida.
- Seminole County Friends of Abused Children Inc., which provides assistance to children facing abuse.
- The Sharing Center, which serves individuals and families by providing basic needs and preventing them from losing their homes or facing hunger.
- The Stephen Siller Foundation, which supports children who have lost a parent, firefighters, and military who have been seriously injured.
